Aftercare

At the end of the appointment, I’ll wrap your tattoo with a bandage. In 1-2 hours you can remove the bandage and wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented, antibacterial soap. I recommend Dial Fragrance Free Clean + Gentle Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap. Then pat the fresh tattoo with a dry paper towel. I like to let tattoos breath for about 15 minutes. Then put on a super super thin layer of tattoo salve. Just enough to cover, but we’re not icing a cake. The more lotion you use, you risk over hydrating the skin, like putting the tattoo under water. This could lead to breakouts and loss of contrast in the artwork. I offer free touch-ups within a year of the initial appointment.

During the two week healing process, wash the tattoo 1-3 times a day. For the first 4 days, stick with a small layer of tattoo salve, like Saniglide.

Once the tattoo starts to get itchy/flakey, switch to a regular unscented lotion like Lubriderm or CeraVe.

Basically keep it clean, don’t touch things that could lead to infection.

During the healing process, don’t put the tattoo under water.

Don’t itch/scratch/pick at your new tattoo! This will lead to ink fall out and will require a touchup.

Don’t expose fresh ink to direct sunlight. Don’t use sunscreen, just cover with loose clothing.

If you find that clothing is ever sticking to your fresh tattoo, simply wet the clothing and the tattoo thoroughly so you can peel off the cloth without peeling off the tattoo. Then wash and moisturize like normal.

Once the tattoo is healed, use lotion on your skin to keep it looking fresh and bold forever. And high quality sunscreen when you’re exposed to direct sunlight.
